CircSyst General Assembly and 40th AER – Assembly of European Regions Anniversary

CircSyst’s second General Assembly will take place 17–19 June in Maribor, Slovenia, alongside the 40th‑anniversary conference of the Assembly of European Regions (AER).
This event will focus on key European priorities such as sustainable development, green transition, digitization, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social cohesion. It will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership building, with special attention to sharing best practices in circular economy.
A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), under which Podravje was selected as one of 12 regions in Europe to receive support for implementing circular solutions. The CircSyst project, aligned with the CCRI, is already driving sustainable progress in the region.
This event aims to showcase successful circular practices and foster collaboration at both regional and European levels, contributing to sustainable growth and increased competitiveness for local businesses.
Set in the Podravje region, one of CircSyst’s nine demonstrator areas and a CCRI Pilot, the three‑day meeting will reunite all partners and deliver a first‑year progress review, highlighting achievements, challenges and next‑step synergies. Sessions will delve into the green transition, the bioeconomy, sustainable development, digitalisation, innovation and social cohesion. Partners will also exchange know‑how with AER members, CCRI peers and invited industry actors, exploring how CircSyst’s solutions can align with regional policy priorities. The event is hosted by RRA Podravje‑Maribor, whose director chairs the AER Working Group on the Bio‑Circular Economy.
