The 88th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) exceeded expectations, attracting 221,375 visitors from September 7 to 15.

This number made it the most successful TIF in terms of attendance since 2019. With over 1,300 exhibitors, 32,000 sq.m of exhibition space, Germany as the Honored Country featuring 135 businesses and organizations, 25 national and international participations, nine thematic showcases, and a strong presence of Chambers of Commerce with 350 companies from across Greece under the auspices of KEEE, the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) sent a powerful message of growth and international cooperation. The 88th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) was held under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior (Macedonia-Thrace) and the Region of Central Macedonia.

On Sunday, September 8, at 16:00, Mr. Thomas Arapogiannis, Director of the Agri-Food Sector in TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD), welcomed esteemed industry executives to the exhibition booth for a discussion on “Sustainability and Development in the Supply Chain.” The discussion was organized by TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD). Industry experts, leading entrepreneurs, and representatives from the country’s largest certification body had the opportunity to exchange views and experiences on key issues in the food packaging and agri-food sector. The discussion revolved around the opportunities and challenges businesses face in ensuring sustainability, as well as the latest developments in modern agriculture.

Our company was represented by Ms. Augustina Galitsopoulou, Director of Facility Hygiene and Food Safety, who focused on:

  • Masoutis’ participation in the CircSyst program, supporting the circular economy alongside CERTH-ITI, particularly the Additive Manufacturing Unit (AMU), through innovative practices and sustainable solutions in food packaging plastic waste.
  • The evaluation process of private-label suppliers within Masoutis.
  • Recycling initiatives aimed at conserving environmental resources.

Through this participation, the CircSyst project was demonstrated, highlighting its benefits and initiatives for plastic recycling solutions in the food packaging sector. The event also served as an opportunity for the dissemination and communication of CircSyst, emphasizing how consumers can transition into prosumers by actively engaging in sustainable practices. Additionally, illustrated the circular solutions for cost-effective plastic use, raising environmental awareness, and encouraging citizen participation in recycling processes, ultimately fostering a more responsible and eco-conscious society. Furthermore, the benefits of adopting such practices were promoted by encouraging businesses and stakeholders to embrace circular economy models for sustainability.

The discussion provided valuable insights into the future of sustainable agriculture, the role of certification in food safety, and the necessity of circular economy models to ensure long-term environmental and economic sustainability in the food packaging and agri-food sector. Also, in a special event within the pavilion, on Monday, September 9, at 17:00, the certificate awarding ceremony for Masoutis Diamantis S.A. took place.
