On November 26, 2024, the “Current Panorama and Challenges of the Plastics Sector” Conference was held in Murcia, organized by CROEM, CETEC, and ASEMUPLAST, with the aim of addressing key sustainability and innovation issues.
The program covered four blocks: sustainability, digitalization, legislation, and a roundtable on new challenges, with expert presentations and networking spaces. It reflected concrete advances in the plastics sector, highlighting success cases in circular economy, advanced materials, biotechnology, and emerging technologies.
PhD. Asunción Martínez presented AIJU developments in materials with environmental interaction, biomedical compatibility, recyclability, and advanced properties in projects such as #Surfplast, #BioScaff3D, #PRecycling, and #CircSyst. Also, projects like #CIRCVET and #3DAdditive are centred on boosting professional skills in circular economy and advanced manufacturing.
These results demonstrate progress in research aimed at solving sustainability challenges, reducing environmental impact, improving processes and traceability, showing a sectoral transformation based on innovation and environmental commitment.
