CircSyst is among the latest technologies supporting the adoption of the circular economy

At the professional event “Emerging Technologies to Drive the Circular Economy in Businesses”, Joaquín Vilaplana, Head of Innovation and Sustainability (AIJU), presented the CircSyst project, in a programme that showcased the latest technologies supporting the adoption of the circular economy. The event was organized by the Observatory of Circular Economy in the province of Alicante together with Fundeun.

The objective of the working day was to present the latest technologies supporting the adoption of circular economy practices and to foster strategic alliances among companies, universities, and research centres. The event also provided opportunities for technology transfer, showcasing innovative solutions, strengthening companies’ reputation as innovation leaders, and generating recognition within the sector.
Programme and key presentations
The session began with the presentation of the Circular Economy Observatory, followed by Joaquín Vilaplana, who introduced several technologies under development applied to the circular economy, including the CircSyst, CIRCVET, ReMETALIZA, and Precycling projects.
INESCOP presented technological demonstrators, while the University of Alicante highlighted the role of research in advancing business circularity. A joint public–private initiative on tyre recycling through pyrolysis technology was also presented, along with a technological pitching session where researchers and innovative enterprises showcased their solutions.
In addition, AIJU research institute presented several projects, notably CircSyst, CircVET, Precycling, and ReMETALIZA, all of which are currently highly relevant to circular economy practices.

Networking and live demonstration
The programme concluded with a networking session and a visit to the INESCOP technological demonstrator at the institute’s facilities.
Focus on CircSyst
Within this framework, special attention was given to the CircSyst project, presented by Joaquín. CircSyst aims to develop innovative solutions for the sustainable processing and recycling of plastic food packaging waste.
