CircSyst Guide for CSS Demonstrators Assessment

The purpose of the guide is to support the implementation, assessment, and fine-tuning of the demonstrators, while ensuring that these solutions are genuinely aligned with Europe’s circularity and sustainability objectives. The methodology places special emphasis on assessing social, environmental, technical, and economic impacts, as well as on stakeholder engagement, policy alignment, and the aspects of scalability and replicability.

The document also helps partners move beyond thinking in terms of isolated pilots and instead towards interconnected, systemic solutions. The guide provides practical tools for mapping the local context, material and energy flows, regulatory background, stakeholder landscape, technological maturity, as well as KPIs and monitoring processes. In this way, it supports not only the evaluation of the current state, but also continuous improvement.

Among its results, the guide also presents an overview of CircSyst’s nine demonstrators in the fields of water, bio-waste, and plastic packaging, while identifying the initial synergies between them. These connections are key to enabling the project to generate a truly cross-sectoral circular impact across Europe.

This guide is therefore not merely a project deliverable, but a shared roadmap towards circular, transferable, and long-term systemic solutions.
