Building Europe’s Circular Future: CircSyst at the European Week of Regions and Cities
Article written by Miriam Clement Talavera – Policy and Project Intern at EURADA
From 13 to 15 October 2025, project partner EURADA represented CircSyst at the 23rd edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC). As Europe’s largest annual event dedicated to regional policy, this year’s edition brought together policymakers, innovators, researchers and regional representatives to engage in discussions on how to better build sustainable, resilient, and circular regions.

For CircSyst, the event offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the CCRI Coordination and Support Office (CCRI-CSO) and the CCRI Knowledge Hub (CCRI-KH) and to connect with other EU-funded projects, policymakers, and regional representatives committed to advancing circularity across Europe.
CircSyst’s participation at EWRC 2025 included its active presence at the CCRI-CSO stand and in several sessions focused on circular economy.
The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), an initiative launched by the European Commission, aims to support the timely achievement of the 2050 climate neutrality target set in the EU Green Deal by promoting the adoption of circular economy practices in cities and regions across Europe. As part of the CCRI, CircSyst joined the CCRI Coordination and Support Office (CCRI-CSO) dedicated stand, held under the theme “Accelerating Circular Action in Cities and Regions.” In the stand, CircSyst engaged with stakeholders and fellow EU-funded projects to discuss how CCRI projects are driving regional and local circular transitions through guidance, technical support, and knowledge-sharing tools that help regions become more circular.
Furthermore, beyond the exhibition area, CircSyst was also present in several sessions focused on circular economy, including: “Advancing and Monitoring Circular Economy Lifestyles and Policies in Cities and Regions” – an interactive workshop exploring how cities and regions can promote and measure circular lifestyles, and “Boosting Regional Competitiveness through Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Circularity” – a session highlighting how circular business models can drive local economic growth. Throughout these sessions, speakers underscored the importance of scaling up circular solutions through shared learning, innovation, and strong regional partnerships.

CircSyst’s participation at the EWRC 2025 reflected its ongoing commitment to circular innovation and multi-stakeholder collaboration, helping to build a stronger network of cities and regions committed to advancing circularity. Overall, the event provided a valuable opportunity to reinforce partnerships, align with European circular policy priorities, and explore synergies with other key actors and projects working toward the shared goal of accelerating the transition to circular and climate-resilient future.
